A must watch video. The United Nations released a profound video featuring Jacqueline Murekatete, sharing the first survivor testimony at the UN- organised commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi.
The only survivor in a family of nine, Murekatete bravely shared her story at the first annual commemoration of the International day of reflection on the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, April 7, 2004. It’s a riveting and intensely painful account that resonates even more today.
A young girl back then, now a mother, Murekatete continues her resolve to make genocide prevention not merely a dream but an attainable goal. Murekatete founded Genocide Survivors Foundation, and she is an attorney based in New York City. End
Albert.
